§ 04 · Ventimesh
§ 04 · IV  ·  Ventimesh

The breathable layer beneath the hide.

Ventimesh is the house's specification of a three-dimensional spacer fabric — a knitted textile that holds air the way a leather holds light. Built into the seat, the headliner, the deck panel. Where the hide is the surface, Ventimesh is the lung.

A note on the material

Two knitted faces, held apart by a forest of monofilament springs.

A spacer fabric is not a foam. It does not crush, does not heat, does not store moisture. Air moves through it under load — the cabin breathes, the seat runs cool, the headliner stays soft a decade after it is laid in. Where weight is measured by the gram and runway by the hundred-thousand mile, Ventimesh is the layer that earns its place by giving the leather something the foam could not: an honest exhale.

§ I
Air.
A pump effect under load — internal cavities exchange air with every compression, regulating microclimate beneath the hide.
§ II
Pressure.
The pile threads distribute point loads across a larger area. The seat that feels like a chaise, even on the long crossing.
§ III
Recovery.
Compression and return, indefinitely — the monofilaments behave as mechanical springs. No memory, no flattening, no second life as foam dust.
§ IV
Recycle.
A single-fibre polyester construction is mono-material recyclable — the textile re-enters the yarn stream at end of service.
V.

Anatomy of a spacer fabric.

Two outer knitted faces — one against the upholstery, one against the substrate — joined by a perpendicular field of fine monofilament threads. Under load the threads bow; on release, they recover. The cavity between the two faces is the working volume — the air that travels with the seat.

Thickness is the principal specification. Aeristo carries the textile from four millimetres, for the headliner laminate and the thinnest ventilated seat pan, to forty millimetres, for the deep cushion of a divan seat. Every panel is cut to programme.

VI.

In the cabin, in the seat.

Ventimesh sits where the leather cannot — inside the build, doing the unseen work. Four sectors specify it, each for the same reason in different language: keep the climate moving, keep the seat in shape, keep the weight down.

Aviation

Beneath the cabin hide.

In the seat pan, in the headliner laminate, in the divan: a thin layer of Ventimesh keeps the climate honest at altitude. The cabin pressurises and recirculates; the seat must breathe with it. Where every gram is weighed, a spacer fabric replaces the foam that would otherwise dampen the leather above.

Automotive

The seat that runs cool.

Climate-controlled seating is built on a ventilated substrate — Ventimesh is the channel through which the conditioned air arrives at the perforation. Behind the headliner, it carries the cabin's heat away from the roof; in the bolster, it absorbs the cornering load and returns to shape.

Hospitality

The lobby seat, on year three.

Public seating earns its keep over a decade — and a foam loses its shape long before the leather does. Ventimesh is the cushion that does not flatten: the lobby armchair feels the same in March of year one as in November of year ten. Specified by hotel groups that buy by the floor.

Use

Thickness
10–40 mm
Pairs with
Mirabelle · Windsor · Belvedair
Yacht

Salt-air and a deck in the sun.

A monofilament polyester does not hold water, does not feed mildew, does not stiffen in the cold of the morning watch. Ventimesh under a marine cushion lets the rain run through and the panel dry through. The seat is dry by lunch.

5–25 mm
